Dragonwell Tea (also known as Longjing tea) is one of the most famous and highly prized green teas from China. It’s grown primarily in the Hangzhou region of Zhejiang Province, and its name comes from the Dragon Well, a historic well located in this area. Dragonwell is renowned for its delicate, smooth flavor and its slightly nutty, vegetal taste with a touch of sweetness and a gentle, refreshing finish.

The leaves of Dragonwell tea are flat and long due to the unique pan-firing process they undergo after picking. This process helps preserve the fresh, vibrant flavors while giving the leaves their characteristic flat shape. It also contributes to the tea’s mildness and the absence of a strong grassy or astringent note, which is typical of other green teas.

Dragonwell tea is known for its rich antioxidant content, and it is often touted for its potential health benefits, such as improving metabolism, supporting heart health, and aiding in relaxation due to its moderate caffeine content. It’s often considered a premium tea, and many people enjoy it for its subtle complexity and smoothness.
