Zante currants are small, dried grapes that are often confused with currants, but they actually come from a variety of small, seedless black grapes called "Black Corinth." These tiny, sweet, and tart dried grapes are sometimes referred to as "corinthian raisins" or simply "currants" in the U.S., though they are technically not the same as the currants derived from the Ribes plant (which are a different species altogether).

Zante currants are commonly used in baking, cooking, and snacks. They’re a popular ingredient in cakes, cookies, and breads (like Greek koulourakia or fruitcakes), as well as in granola or trail mix. They also make a great topping for salads or yogurt and can be soaked and added to jams, sauces, or marinades.

Nutritionally, Zante currants are a good source of fiber, antioxidants, and essential minerals like potassium, iron, and calcium. They also contain natural sugars, so they offer a quick energy boost, though they’re lower in calories compared to larger raisins.
